Christmas Family Photoshoot in The Quarry
Christmas was a busy period for family photoshoots with lots of families booking for presents or to get photos to put in a 2019 calendar or diary. A photo shoot is a great present for those people that you have no idea what to buy. I can provide gift vouchers to put in a card.
The week before Christmas was still very icy and cold in Shrewsbury. I choose the Quarry for the setting as it is so pretty and had the lovely contrast of colours in the blue sky, green trees and the reflections in the water. It is an iconic location in Shrewsbury with St Chads in the background.
I had discussed with Georgie the mum, about the family wearing similar tones which worked really well with the blue and grey tones in their outfits. In colour photography too many colours look messy in the photo. Here the family look very colour toned, relaxed and comfortable as well as dressing appropriately for the location.
We walked across the river from the Quarry and used the Rowing Club as our location. Their dog wasn't at all happy with the whole idea of the shoot but we managed to calm her down and get her in a few photos. I particularly like the photo on the far left where she is standing up. Her face is a picture! The morning started cloudy which is a photographer's dream but as it warmed up and the sun came out we had to take shelter from it's warming rays as sun creates horrible unflattering shadows. The middle photo was tricky to set up as it was so icy - I have quite a few photos of Jenny slipping all over the place in her Chelsea boots. The path adds nice interest to the photo with the leading line and the shimmery ice, despite it being a bit of a death trap!
We were all done in about 2 hours just as the full sun came out - so off we all went home to thaw out!
(Family photoshoots from £150 depending on size of your family! Candid, relaxed and a great present for those people that you have no idea what to buy!)
